Christopher Ryan Brauer is not nearly as pretentious as the use of his full name might indicate. He simply “Googled” himself one day and found there were several namesakes in various parts of the world. So, to avoid any confusion…well, you get the point. He describes himself as a passive aggressive introvert with a scathing sarcastic streak. He likes to swipe neighbors’ newspapers, take too long in the supermarket checkout line, and drive with his turn signal on.
Seriously, Chris is a genuinely nice person who deeply loves and respects the craft of songwriting. He has been writing songs for over a dozen years and works hard at honing his song senses and sensibilities. His growing catalog of country songs is diverse in style and subject matter. His favorite writing style is to unveil a twist that makes the entire song understandable in two completely different ways. Examples of this are his tender, “Sleepin’ in a Strange Bed” and soulful, “Last Time, Last Night.” He also likes the rockin’ good time songs such as the whimsical “Who Are You?” and devilish “Loaded and Loaded.” He continually works at paving the highway of song ideas flowing from his mind to his fingers. A member of NSAI and affiliated with BMI, he takes advantage of opportunities for networking and growth and finds Nashville a most welcoming place.
He loves the outdoors and has spent many days out on the lake fishing for bass, crappie, and catfish, as well as countless hours chasing his birddog searching for a covey of quail or a pheasant. Morrell season is also a highlight of the year. He lives and dies with the St. Louis Cardinals and University of Illinois Fighting Illini, his alma mater. He has been blessed with a beautiful young family, with children ages 6, 4, and 2, that he and his lovely wife enjoy tremendously.
Chris is ecstatic to join the team at Sharp Objects. He states, “I felt the family atmosphere immediately with Steve’s warm handshake and Valerie’s friendly smile. I look forward to being a contributing part of their continued success.” He also looks forward to getting noticed and known on Music Row.
